I’ve spent my entire working life involved in the mechanical and electrical maintenance of commercial buildings, overseeing delivery across the whole spectrum of commercial buildings; new builds, buildings scheduled for demolition, data centres, factories, flagship corporate head-quarters… The list goes on! Yet one thing this range of buildings has in common is a lack of intelligent M&E procurement. It never ceases to amaze how few clients take the time to ask themselves, their contractor or that consultant; what level of M&E do I really need?

A housing association in Essex has been fined £12,000 following an outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease at a sheltered housing scheme, leading to one resident being hospitalised- an outcome that could have been easily prevented.
