Yes we Cannes!

Rollright have always supported charity fundraisers and in the past we have hosted successful coffee mornings, pub quizzes and walks. However, this year we have decided to take it up a notch and on Thursday myself and a friend will be cycling to from London to Cannes to attend MIPIM 2011. The journey will be tough, with an average distance of 120km per day being covered in the still-freezing early March weather but I am confident we will make it to the sunny South to enjoy a celebratory pastis or two!

The event began in 2006 with just 17 riders and has now grown steadily each year. Last year , 85 riders raised over £172,000 for a range of charities in the UK and abroad.  Hopefully, we will be able to exceed this figure this year.

If you are able to support key charities such as Land Aid, Tom’s Trust, The Duke of Edinburgh Awards, the Multiple System Atrophy Trust and Article 25, please follow this link to donate.

I will be posting regular updates on our progress south via our twitter account. Wish me luck!

Is facilities management a commoditised industry?

Rollright recently participated in a round table discussion on whether FM was becoming commoditised. The panel was chaired by BIFM’s Bernard Crouch and featured Rollright’s Commercial Director Charlie Sinton as well as Trevor Chaplin of Capita, Tim Winters of KPMG, Julie Kortens of Channel 4, Ismena Clout of FM Powerperfector and Jeremy Waud, MD of Incentive FM.

The debate provided an interesting perspective on clients’ and suppliers’ differing attitudes to facilities management procurement and what the future holds for the industry. Here’s our take on the issue.
